HostGator is a web hosting company founded in 2002. I've worked on various web design, branding, illustration and graphic design projects for HostGator with a very small agile design team. I got my start at HostGator as a marketing brand and graphic designer and was moved into the in-house front of site team to develop my web skills.
I've created web pages, illustrated brand assets, and animations for HostGator. During my time here, I've developed proficiency in Sketch, After Effects, and Lottie.
Illustration
HostGator has used their mascot Snappy since its inception, but customer representation was lacking in most assets and landing pages. I created the character art style speaking to HostGator's small business customers. We wanted to keep the playful tone throughout HostGator's brand, while recognizing diversity and the different career endeavors of our customer base.
These personas have been used extensively across the site and in other customer-facing locations.
Animation
The HostGator team collaborated extensively on creating animations for our front of site pages. We wanted to show the capabilities of our new builder product in a fun and engaging way, and static images weren't cutting it. Using Lottie and After Effects, and under supervision from our Art Director, we quickly learned how to animate and create assets under extreme time pressure for the launch of our builder product page.
